NAWBO-BRC Tidbits - February
Welcome! To NAWBO Tidbits, that monthly email filled
with good news and good-to-know information to brighten your day and enhance
your business.
To have your news appear in NAWBO Tidbits, please
send a short description to info@nawbomaryland.org or
Peg@WordLens.com.
From the President
Are you getting everything from NAWBO that you expected? Are you interested in
making your NAWBO connection more productive? Are you willing to invest more
in your membership in order to maximize the benefits? The most basic benefit
of your NAWBO membership is the monthly meeting, which provides you with occasions
for networking, education, and social interaction. The more of these meetings
you can attend, the greater your exposure to other members and guests and the
greater your chances of developing meaningful, productive relationships.
For the first half of 2007, NAWBO has several other significant opportunities
for you to maximize the benefits of your membership. If you attended the January
meeting and heard lobbyist Pamela Metz Kasemeyer speak, you may have found a
new appreciation for the power of the individual to influence legislation. Consider,
then, joining NAWBO members from around the country for Public Policy Days in
DC in February.
In May we will be awarding a scholarship to a deserving high school senior, for
which you can nominate possible candidates. On Monday evening, April 23, NAWBO
Baltimore will host its most prestigious event, our Woman of the Year Banquet
and Silent Auction, at the lovely and historic Mansion House at the Baltimore
Zoo. This event, which drew 150 in attendance in 2005, is a marvelous showcase
for NAWBO and all of its members. Look for details on all these events in this
issue of Tidbits.
None of these events can take place without the active support and participation
of you, the members. In raising the visibility of NAWBO, we raise the visibility
of each of us individually and collectively. I ask you to help further the activities
of NAWBO by volunteering your presence, your time, your talents, and your financial
support. Let's make NAWBO a true force in the greater Baltimore business community
in 2007.
My very best wishes to all NAWBO members and supporters for a healthy, prosperous
New Year!
Anne

Who Will Be Woman of the Year?
On Monday evening, April 23, 2007, NAWBO will hold its Woman of the Year
Banquet and Silent Auction at the Mansion House at the Baltimore Zoo.
Here we will honor two of our outstanding members - our Business Woman of the
Year (who must have at least 2 years entrepreneurial experience) and our Rookie
of the Year (who has owned her business for less than 2 years). The WOTY committee
is actively seeking nominations for these two awards. Application forms for you
to nominate another member or yourself are available on our website on our homepage.
Proceeds from the Silent Auction will go to our Scholarship fund.
This event provides multiple opportunities to promote your business:
-
Donate something to the silent auction - something you made or sell, a
certificate for your services, tickets, sports memorabilia, etc.
-
Purchase an ad in the program
-
Become an event sponsor by contributing cash or your services, such as
graphic design for the invitations, program printing, etc.
-
Reserve a table for your employees or your clients
-
Join the WOTY committee and donate your time
This gala event will feature a noted speaker, local media celebrities, fabulous
food, and maybe even a surprise visit from some Zoo residents. Check our website
weekly for updates on this event, and hold the date!
For more information on how you can help make this event a success, call Anne
O'Hare at 410-494-9595 or email her at aohare@bullassociates.net.
